Canon 50D!

There are news about a possible confirmed leak for Canon's 40D replacement specs....I still love my 40D but this kind of news stings a bit (actually a lot).The new 50D seems like a very, very nice upgrade.

Canon Rumors lists the specs as :


Sensor: 1.6x crop CMOS --------> Bleh!
Proc: DIGIC IV --------> Oooh!
MP: 15.1MP --------> hummm!
LCD: 3" VGA LCD --------> Yeah!
VF: 95% viewfinder .97 magnification --------> Nice!
AF: 9 point af --------> good!
ISO: 100-3200 (Expansion to 6400 & 12800) -------->@_@!
FPS: 6.3/3fps -------->good for sports action!
Buffer: 16 RAW - 60 JPG - 10 RAW+JPG --------> Deep buffer
Feature: Dust Reduction --------> Standard
Feature: Auto Brightness Processing --------> ?
Feature: Microadjustment --------> More accurate MF?
Feature: Face Recognition AF --------> cool!

The nicest feature is the new DIGIC IV processor with Face detection AF routines, this is something I hope can bring more sharp far away face shots. Also there seems to Contrast detect AF in live mode like the 450D, which I hope is faster than the 450D implementation. The new VGA LCD was lacking in the 40D and was really a hurting point compared to Nikon's 300D.

Now the next specs i want to see are the 5D MKII. Some leaks show some very nice features. I hope this comes at a price that is accesible to mortals (with kidneys).

Canon Rumors lists rumored (with low credibility) the 5D MKII (?) specs as :

New body design with an integrated grip. Smaller than 1D's
-ISO 100-12800
-DIGIC IV
-6 or 8fps
-3.2" VGA LCD

We (meaning me) all hope this is true! Canon must kick the 700D's butt!
